What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They let the site recognize your browser across requests — for example, to keep you signed in or to remember the language you chose. Some technologies we use (such as local storage) work similarly and are covered by this policy as well.

Cookies we use

We keep the set of cookies intentionally small and group them into three categories:

• Essential — required for the service to work. They carry your Abkus Hub SSO session so you stay signed in across Abkus apps, protect forms against cross-site request forgery, and balance traffic. The service cannot function without them.
• Preferences — remember choices you make, such as the interface language (English or Portuguese) and display preferences, so you do not have to set them again on every visit.
• Analytics — help us understand in aggregate which features are used and where the interface fails, so we can improve it. These are used for product improvement only.

What we do not use cookies for

Abkus Academic does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell data collected through cookies. Research data you upload belongs to you and is never used for advertising.

Managing cookies

You can review, block, or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings; the exact path depends on the browser you use. Blocking or deleting essential cookies will sign you out and may prevent parts of the service from working, because they are what keeps your authenticated session valid. Preference and analytics cookies are optional — the service remains usable without them.

Third-party services

Sign-in is provided by Abkus Hub (abkus.com), our central identity service. When you sign in, the Hub sets the session cookie that this domain reads to recognize you. That cookie is governed by the Hub privacy and cookie documentation in addition to this policy.
